I just finished Love Simon and it was good.


 This book reminded me that LGBTQ is a way of life. I enjoyed the comedy and storytelling. Simon's change as a character was interesting to witness. I didn't like how blunt Simon was. To unpack it I found Love Simon to be a good book. It taught me about romance.

    Glad you liked it. I enjoyed your book talk about it. I guess, Noah, with an eye toward both your single story and the idea of a reading workshop, I'd like to see you delve into both in this post. How did this text and its ending provide you with insights into your single story? What about the writing or the storytelling did you notice and enjoy? What didn't you like about how the story was told? It's awesome to call a book good and find good books. It's also important to do the unpacking and reflecting work that will help you develop a teacher's eye toward text selection.

    This story showed me parts of the LGBTQ world I wasn't familiar with. I enjoyed Simon's quirkiness, the way he wrote and talked. I didn't like Simon's vulgarity. From a teacher's perspective this book could help other students come to terms with certain ideas.

Gumby Approach and It Never Hurts to Laugh

In this article several things stood out to me, including the sections mentioned in the title. The gumby approach is modeled off some action figure thing. it is very flexible. This approach involves approaching technology and teaching with an open mind and the ability to be flexible at all times. When something goes wrong, as it inevitably will, you don't freak out, or seem unable to go forward, but you find a way or brainstorm a new activity on the fly. If you are flexible the options are really really wide. It's as complicated as you make it most times. The other part that stands out to me is the part on laughing. I think this goes nicely with the be flexible part. When things don't go your way, you always have the option of going with humor! Laugh it off and people won't hold it against you!

2 Queer ID

According to this book queer masculinity tends to develop in a counter way to typical masculinity. They end up in a space that is disruptive.  These people tend to struggle for their id and end up protesting for it. As I read about chapter 13 I find out that someone can read heterosexual texts in a homosexual light. Using imagination to conceive of the characters differently.  This teaches the mind of the reader about such things and allows him an outlet.  In chapter 15 an author talks about how same sex attraction is often grouped into such things as class and race. Also the author notes how those women who are masculine may end up the "Other". In The Origin of Others Toni Morrison talks about the other. The dangers that the other faces are real. Many people grouped as the other face developmental problems. The author urges people to view their bodies as endlessly becoming. My interpretation is that we should see ourselves as ever changing and not to be over...

Mini-lesson reflection

I believe students learned what was expected of them. I would have liked for the lesson to include answers to some questions such as can you make the questions anonymous. I found leading the lesson was cool. It taught me about Edmodo and my classmates. I am glad I got to lead a lesson. Some of my classmates had an understanding of Edmodo before the lesson. I feel like Edmodo is a strong app that is good for classrooms. I hope my classmates have learned enough to use the app in their classrooms. Based on my poll most of my classmates learned from the lesson.
